This beautifully handcrafted necklace was purchased on location in a remote village in East Africa. Made from recycled material and beads, the handiwork is stunning given the limited tools and raw materials available in this desolate location.
Meet the Artisan:
I personally met this local artisan adorned in a traditional macawiss dress selling his wares in his home village in East Africa. The artisan and I negotiated a fair and equitable price. Because of his remote location and limited access to the global marketplace, this sale and others like it mark the beginning for artisans like him and his family to find new markets and provide for their family.
